clothing

*** note: this is a mix of my favorites + my dream items.

my goal is to fully transform my closet into one that is Earth-friendly through sustainable practices. my highest priority is to INVEST in quality clothes but i am thankful to reuse and repurpose clothes from years past or thrifting.

my classics

  1. Oversized Denim Overalls: my favorite pair is no longer in stock but these are a close second! they are perfect for every season. pair it with a tank, bralette, sweater, whatever. i love the oversized 90s feel — like i’m about to paint some walls and look like Julia Roberts in a romcom, but we all know that isn’t happening anytime soon.

  2. Levi’s Wide Leg Denim (white and dark wash): glory! roomy without losing shape of your curves… and without squishing you in all the wrong places. personally, i love my white/cream pair just a taaaad bit more, but they are both great options. (out of stock in white, but close second!)

  3. Dankso Clogs in Honey Distressed: the definition of sex appeal amirite? these are legit medical-grade clogs because i’m 27 going on 90. but the design is so cute, i can wear them all day long, and i’m not as afraid to get them ruffed up like i am my clogs below! my current favs are the honey distressed!

  4. Everlane Winter Jacket: i highly value Everlane and their mission! this jacket has stood the test for Northern Californian winters in the mountains and is made from 100% recycled materials— the pockets are my favorite! I got mine in a “rust” color.

  5. Lotta From Stockholm Clogs: if i could hug some shoes it would be these! made in sweden, these authentic clogs have been a staple in my life for years. they hold up so well, go perfect with dresses, jeans, and the like. i have sensitive feet and i was able to wear these out of the box for a full day in Napa. i have a couple pairs but always feel the best in ones that have a strap! I’m also just getting into the trendy Sandgren Clogs because I won a pair - everyone I know who has a pair raves about them!

  6. Dark wash Sherpa Denim Jacket: this is my go-to “it just turned somewhat cold and i miss watching Friday Night Lights and looking at Tim Riggins in his sherpa jacket” jacket. i can probably just end it right there — but i am a jacket fanatic. the one i love is no longer in stock either, but i’ll link something similar!

  7. Blundstone Boots: i could go to graduate school just to write a thesis on blundstones. no drama, these are the best investment shoes you can own. i’ve sold my entire family on them, gift them for Christmas, and have a list of other types that i want BUT i’m going on 3 years with my first pair and i don’t need a second anytime soon. I have the classic 585s!

my classics: Gigi Pip hats

While I looOooove so many of the Gigi Pip hats, these are my GO-TO three:

  • The Miller in Brown: this was my first ever purchase from GP and, honestly, I wore it so much that first year (after I got over my “Am I actually a hat lady?” jitters) that my makeup is forever embedded in the rim. It’s a classic staple in my wardrobe AND gives me an extra day of not washing my hair when the dry shampoo is on overdrive. Don’t lie. You have those days, too. I would splurge to get this in the Ivory as well!

  • The Ezra in Mix Grey: yeehaw, this was my * risky * purchase but I love it so, so much. It is TALL, okay? But it gives the perfect western + dressy feel. I wear this with dresses or jean jackets, hair tucked behind my ears with some statement earrings. The mixed grey is SO beautiful that the pictures don’t even give it justice. would love this in tan, too!

  • The Aiden in Natural Straw Hat: buy this now. I mean it. I wear this 6 out of the 7 days during Spring and Summer. it comes in two different colors but I love, love, love my “natural” color with the leather chin strap — and yes, you will use it. So thankful to have this hat for lazy river days, gardening, and riding on the boat.

Gigi Pip tips!

  1. Don’t freak out about the size. Measure at home how they suggest on their website and if you’re between sizes, size up!

  2. I learned that I don’t love “lower” hats aka why the Miller and Ezra are favs — they are tall. It’s just my preference with my face shape. You’ll learn what you like best.

  3. Hang them on your walls. It’s not only cute decor, but it keeps these investment pieces in their proper shape. And truly, Gigi Pip hats are a GREAT investment.

capsule investment pieces from Earth-friendly companies

Vetta - The Haven Capsule

5 pieces you can wear 30 ways. Yup.

I wasn’t able to invest fully into this capsule but bought a couple of items and can’t wait to complete it AND not have decision fatigue for daily outfits. This is a great way to love on the Earth through responsible, thoughtful fashion.

They have a fun little quiz you can take to see which wardrobe best fits your style!

Christy Dawn - hello, dream wardrobe.

Our future depends on regenerative practices that go beyond sustainability to actively heal both Mother Earth and ourselves. Through creating intimate connections with the communities and ecosystems that support us, we can support them. Together, we regenerate.” -Christy Dawn website

maternity

  • Dresses: i’ve heard it said to not buy maternity clothes - just size up in dresses and leggings. THIS is honestly the motto to live by!!! thankfully a majority of my “bigger belly” pregnancy was in the fall. Nothing Fits But is a go-to, feeling yourself, puff sleeve goodness kind of shop. I bought my first dress from them 2 months before I was even pregnant because I was OBSESSED with their sleeves. Old Navy was my last-minute ditch effort to find dresses that I could * actually * wear to Trader Joe’s with puff sleeves that didn’t go up to my ears, and it did NOT disappoint. I’m LIVING (currently as i type this, 32 weeks pregnant) for these staple pieces: the button-up, the black knit dress, and the cream knit dress. Good ol’ Target had this dress that we used for our announcement photos and i was able to wear it in my regular size for a good portion of my pregnancy! dress , cardigan , bb sweater, noah

  • Oversized T-shirt: i try to find pieces that i can use for maternity aaand postpartum to get the most bang for my buck… oversized t-shirts not only give room for my bump to grow but also give wiggle room for nursing! i’ll add that button-up cardigans are a must, too!

  • Maternity Leggings: good Lord, i thought i could get away with just sizing up for the entire pregnancy but this just isn’t true. while it worked for a bit, once I hit around 29 weeks i needed support that didn’t stop at my belly button. Blanqi was recommended and these things are the real deal. Quality. Supportive. Cozy. And yeah… you can’t see anything when you bend over so take my money now. i have 2 of these in black and wish i had more colors because i wear them EVERY TIME i’m not wearing a dress.

  • Pajamas: again, something for my growing belly and something that i’ll use during the night when i nurse — this brand is my go-to. so, so soft.

  • Robe: while i love my grandpa’s old robe, i wanted to get something that i would also live in post-birth. Coyuchi is an Earth-friendly, responsible fashion and home brand that i really appreciate! this is the robe i’ll be in from March to… well. forever. color: rosehip!
